A Christian disconnected from the family is like a football player without a team, a soldier without a platoon or a child without a family. We want to help you figure out how to become a registered member of Joy of Christ Church.
Benefits of Membership
It identifies a person as a genuine believer (Ephesians 2:19, Romans 12:5)
It provides a family to support and encourage in the Christian walk/life (Galatians 6:1-2, Hebrews 10:24-25)
It provides an opportunity to discover and use spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4-27)
It provides spiritual protection (Hebrews 13:7, Acts 20:28-29)
It provides the accountability you need to grow (Ephesians 5:21)
Requirements for Membership
Born again experience and baptism in water by immersion
Commitment evidenced by fellowship and involvement (2 Corinthians 8:5). You commit yourself to Christ for salvation then commit yourself to other Christians in our church family.
Be in full harmony and accord with the church doctrine, in particular demonstrate a genuine desire for baptism in the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4)
Attend and excel in a membership study course. The duration of the course is two (2) months
Responsibilities of a Member
Protect the Unity of the church by:
- Acting in love towards other members
- Refusing to gossip (Matthew 12:36)
- Submitting to church authority (Romans 14:19, 1 Peter 1:22, Ephesians 4:29, Hebrews 13:17)
Share the responsibility of the church by:
- Praying for the church
- Witnessing and inviting people to attend
- Warmly welcoming those who visit
- Developing a servant heart (Luke 14:23, Romans 15:7)
Support the testimony of the church by:
- Attending faithfully
- Living a godly life
- Giving tithes, offering and pledges regularly (1 Corinthians 16:2, Leviticus 27:30, Malachi 3:10)
